Thirsty Land

Thirsty land this.
Slope after slope
it shakes itself like a dog.
Without drinking. Nothing.
The stony face
uplifted.

This land.
It doesn’t want to rise up or
lie down.
Not ever bending,
terribly still,
speaks only for itself.
