Soldiers On Exercise
children play
     games of death
lying down
     to jump up again
but these
     whose forms
equipment distorts
     till even the tallest
runs dwarflike
     when there’s no
refuge in pax
     scorch in the blast
that’s not a breeze
     sliced by metals
harsher than grass
     lie down to rot
and never rise
