             REMEMBER

             the garden paintings
             on the walls of the viridaria
             and the interiors of closed rooms

one
a background entirely of black
             the lower part decorated
             with geometric figures

             in the upper part
             some small columns
             scanning the space of an orchard

                                two willows
                                one pomegranate
                                one empty basin


the other room
       with a blue background
                       showed clumps of vegetation


                       the other garden
                              filled with trees
                       but also
                                      with statues
                                      with paintings
 

ARIADNE SLEEPING AT NAXOS VISITED BY DIONYSOS


                 garlands ornamented with masks and shields
                 and on an entablature of false openings
                                    an ibis
                                    a magpie
                                    a crow
                                    a robin

                                    alternating with urns

outside
                REMEMBER

                the ruins
                the dried grass
                the three o'clock sun
                the fatigue
                & the house of the tragic poet
